I would like to step into the Risk Adjustment world AND I would like additional certification. Would your HCC course prepare me adequately to take the CPMA exam? I realize that it is focused on auditing but the world's do mesh in areas....give me your straight on thoughts...thanks Barb in the the Bluegrass

The CPMA is very heavy in E/M. The RA/HCC will not have any work or practice in E/M. The focus is going to be on dx and the disease process. However a large part of what an RA/HCC coder does is to audit charts it is for a different reason then what the CPMA does.

With all that being said it matters what type of auditing you will be called to do. In my opinion I feel all coders should take our RA/HCC course because that is the way payment is and has moved.

Will it help you pass the CPMA, I suspect not.
Will it help you become a better and more marketable coder, yes diffidently!
